 Z cab for KT45
« Thread Started on Jul 11, 2009, 4:00am »

I'm looking to buy a Z cab for my KT45, leaning towards a couple but wanted to get a feel for what was the cab of choice for all you KT users out there. 8-)

I voted for the Z Best, because I think it does sound best of the cabinets you mentioned. However, another option would be the 210 Convertible cab with the middle panel removed. They don't sound quite as big as the Z Best. But I really think most people would be really surprised at how nice a couple of 10 inch speakers can sound. I've sold both of my Convertible 210s, but they were both really nice sounding cabs. As a matter of fact, I much preferred the 210s over the Z Best with my Stingray.

Hi Brad737,

I was actually considering the 4x10 just for the extra push, have you ever tried a 4x10? 8-)

Just my 2 cents. I recently got the 4x10 to go with my EZG-50...sounds great!!! My few concerns are...with the EZG and 4x10s playing small to medium size clubs is the equivalent of having a Ferrari and being confined to a 45 mph speed zone. This combo has massive power....if you crank it to the point of overdrive you're gonna drown out the band or knock down the back wall of the club.

I originally had the 2x10 ordered but changed to the 4x10. Gonna have to get an OD pedal to bridle the beast. I just played through mine this weekend and opened it up on a few tunes...damn what a tone...but...it buried the band!

I'm looking for clean headroom, all overdrive/distortion will be from my board. I'm doing a Pink Floyd duo and want it for that. :)

I haven't heard all the Z cabs. Of those that I've heard I prefered the Z-Best. It's a fantastic sounding cab to my ears. It's a heavy cab to move around though. I'm using a Port City Wave cab only because of the weight factor. It's also fantastic.

Ha! well 6 votes is not really overwhelming proof but I suppose it's a fair indication of where it may be going!

I'm going to take my KT into my local store and pound the living hell out of as many cabs as I can, I was very keen on the 4x10 but so far no one has voted for that, I'll give the 1x12, 2x10 and the Z best a try as I know they have those in stock.

As soon as I get back from my tests I'll post my reveiws here. 8-)

I played mine in a Marshall RI 4x10 with C-Golds. It was very sweet!! Play em before you buy if ya can... I don't have a 4x10 personally but the Z-Best to me is better than the other Z Cabs I have. The KT45 is a great amp... and loud! Great for PF and classic rock and probably everything else. Nice headroom.

Not an option so no vote from me;

2x12 open with two greenbacks was my potion with KT-45

Did you ever get that 4x10? I thought I read somewhere else that you might. I just voted for the Zbest cause it's all I have.

Describe the 4x10 with the 45 please.

On second thought, please don't. I can't get a 4x10 right now.

Ha! Whatever you do NEVER try a KT through a 4x10 with your credit card any where within swiping distance! You WILL buy one!

Got mine a couple of weeks ago and it's simply awesome with the KT, bottom end tight and focused, a beautiful clarity that I simply cannot get from my 1x12's! Very VERY good cab! 8-)

The first time I tried a KT was with a 4x10 and it sold me. Got the amp now but not the cab. I use mine with a Z Best usually, but I'd still have to say that the KT was made for the 4x10.

I'm with Curt on this one.......KT45 and 2-12 with Greenbacks although the last job I played I used the 45 and a 1-12 cab with a G12-65 and it blew the doors out of the place :o

I tried the open back 2x12 and it had greenbacks in it at 4 ohms. For me at the time it was to bassy and boomy. See the KT-45 pic section. If you play the rooms that allow the volume it would probably be great.

I just ordered a 4x10. Might run into the same problem with it being an open cab, but who cares I have to try it. Thanks for your support fellow Zholic.

As Curt stated, I was wondering why no 2x12 open in the poll.
