Hi folks, I have a minute to profess my respect for the Hermida Audio Zendrive and my favorite musician Vince Gill. I have had the pleasure of getting to know him a bit over the years and this is too good of a story not to share.
I was at soundcheck on Sat. Oct 21 in Detroit at the Fox. Very cool. My wife and I got to hang and just enjoy his stellar band rehearse...Even better, I brought my own Zendrive down for Vinnie to try out. He did. What a thrill to hear my pedal being worked by my favorite guitarist/musician. He liked it so much that he asked to use it in the concert that night. It sounded so good with his black strat with EMG's... It is really cool to turn your hero on to something cool! I was (and still am) on cloud nine.
BTW...if you haven't checked out his new box set...it has 43 tunes...sells for under 25 bucks...and features his best work yet. I must say I am seriously impressed. Check him out in concert on this tour...pack a lunch...it is over 3 hours long! Awesome show. Musicians will love it.
Just thought I would share this with my fellow Z brothers and sister.
My best, 6strang

That had to be a great experience for you. I imagine that a Zendrive would be great for him as it's not too gainy. By the way is that the one you bought from me?

High-high gain doesn't work for me. You lose too much of what makes a guitar a guitar. You can get into heavy territory (Jimi, Beck, Page) with low to moderate gain.
Vince Gill is a great artist, picker and singer. If he only used a better amp...

Maybe Brad could get Vince hooked on some Z-Love? Great story by the way. I worked at a country club when I lived in Nashville that Vince was a member of; he was always one of the nicest members out there and went out of his way to talk to everyone.

Thought you all would enjoy these...BTW...Vince does own a couple of Dr. Z amps. He just took delivery of a matching pair of Goodsells too. He uses quite a bit of different stuff in the studio. Enjoy the pics. 6strang

I'm glad you like it! I feel like I'm missing something in not digging that pedal. Great pics. That must have been quite a thrill to get that kind of access at the show.

Very Nice, 6strang!
Zendrive is truly a great pedal and Alf is a great guy too. I can tell you that my Stangray loves the Zen. Check out askzac.com, he recently posted some pics of Vince's rig too.
Thanks for sharing, T Bone

I went to a Vince show last night. I'm by no means a country fan, but it was well worth it. Great sound / lights /etc too boot. Huge band too, 15 ppl or something! haha.
He's such a great picker and very humble guy. +1

The Zen is a "grownups" pedal. You MUST spend time learning what makes it great before it will sound great for you. The differences are in the subtle feel and tone "quality"-not for kids that want a buzz bomb to pretend being James Hetfield eeking out "seek and destroy" ...And it loves high quality ,hand built amps- not production line "ZIZZZY ZIZZZY CHUNK CHUNK" amps. But thats just me.

Funny, I feel the same about the FD2. It's taken me awhile to get it dialed in, and at first I really thought I wasted my money.
Now I love it and it's never going anywhere.
